Specifying a hotel courtyard pergola without losing a month
Hospitality projects add power, drainage, and a maintenance path. Those three lines belong in the first drawing, not in the snagging list.
A hotel courtyard is not a larger garden pergola. Guests sit under it every service. The motor, the water, and the night cleaning crew all have to live with the frame you approve.
Contractors who finish on time treat those as design items.
Who owns the power and the water
A motorized louver needs a feed the hotel’s electrician will accept, and a side of the bay where the motor housing is not above a banquet table. Rain has to reach a drain the landscape drawing already shows. If the gutter discharges over a walkway, the pergola is wrong even when the blades close.
Write the number of bays, the shared posts, and the clear height for service trolleys. A bay that looks generous on plan can block a tray line.
What the operator asks after opening
The questions we hear after handover are practical: how the blades lock in a storm, how a single blade is replaced, and who holds the spare motor. Put the spare-part list in the same pack as the drawing. A hotel engineer will not wait for a new OEM cycle to replace one blade.
Pavilion models on the ICR verification are the ones you can cite for EN 1090. Match the model number to the bay you are actually building.
Approval is a drawing, not a mood board
Interior designers will send a reference photo. Ask them to sign the structural drawing as well. The photo does not fix the post grid.
