How to specify powder coating so the batch matches the sample
A photo of “charcoal” is not a color. RAL codes, gloss, and the difference between powder and PVDF are what the coating line needs.
Most color disputes start from a phone photo taken in shade. The sample was approved indoors. The facade faces west. The batch is then “wrong,” even when it matches the code that was never written down.
Send a code, then a sample
Use a RAL powder-coat code as the contractual color. Approve a coated coupon in the light where the product will stand, or accept that the site will not match your office. Gloss matters. A matt black and a fine-texture black are both “black” in a message and different on a fence run.
Powder coating is the standard finish on our frames. PVDF is the finish to ask for when the specification calls for a higher-grade coastal coating. Do not swap the words in a tender and expect the same quotation.
What changes the color on site
Section size does not change the code, but a large flat panel shows variation that a small post hides. Approve the color on a piece that is close to the real part, not only on a chip card.
If two products on one house must match, a pergola and a fence, coat them in one batch or accept a batch difference. Say that when you place both orders.
